Europe saw significant growth in renewable electricity generation in January and February, meeting 60% of total power demand. This marked a 12% increase from the previous year, driven by growth in hydro, wind, and nuclear energy.

The use of fossil fuels decreased by 12%, with coal energy dropping by 15%. Surprisingly, nuclear and hydroelectricity led the growth, with hydro reaching its highest share ever. Wind power also showed substantial growth.

Countries like Ireland and Portugal are achieving high levels of renewable energy use, and innovative projects like Liverpool’s tidal power project are advancing Europe’s green energy integration efforts.
