EHang’s eVTOL aircraft has secured approval for commercial flights from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).
This landmark achievement marks the world’s first certification of an electric, autonomous passenger-carrying eVTOL. For more than 1,000 days, EHang collaborated closely with CAAC to meet aviation safety standards, overcoming numerous challenges.
The EH216-S is designed to carry two passengers for up to 20 miles, boasting a cruising speed of 60 mph and a maximum speed of 81 mph, powered by a 17 kWh battery and 16 propellers driven by 16 electric motors.
The successful certification process paved the way for the EH216-S to conduct commercial flights, making it the first commercialized, electric, autonomous passenger-carrying eVTOL in the world.
