Seaweed-like micro hydro power generator

Scientists developed a power supply prototype that mimics seaweeds to generate power.

They generate power through triboelectric nanogenerators using static electricity.  These nanogenerators harvest the excess energy from the transfer of electrons from one surface to another.

For instance, as the waves move the seaweed-like nanogenerators back and forth, the coating is repeatedly connected and disconnected, generating electricity.

These triboelectric nanogenerators have no impact on the marine environment.  They don’t produce heat, light, or sound, and are less corrosive than the typical big heavy generators.

A few prototypes could power 30 LED lights.   At a large scale, these could power major electrical appliances in coastal habitations or even a lighthouse.

Could you imagine a future where these nanogenerators would power commercial and residential establishments along the shores?  Leave your comments below.
