Researchers from the University of Seoul developed a “Plus Energy” smart window that performs three energy-saving tasks: generating electricity from raindrop friction, cooling by reflecting non-visible light, and defrosting without energy use. The window uses layers of indium tin oxide (ITO) and silver, generating power and cooling without traditional energy consumption. This innovation could enhance building efficiency and contribute to clean energy generation, particularly as the climate warms and energy demands increase.
