Science Corporation, founded by Neuralink’s former president, has achieved a breakthrough in brain-computer interface (BCI) technology with its Prima retina implants, helping legally blind patients regain central vision

In recent trials, some participants could read, recognize faces, and complete tasks like crosswords. The Prima device uses a small photovoltaic chip under the retina paired with special glasses to project visual data via near-infrared light.

This light stimulates remaining retinal neurons to transmit visuals to the brain. Results show promise, though details on image magnification and further studies are awaited.
