Restored touch: is nerve damage curable?

Researchers at The Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research have the potential to change the lives of millions suffering from paralysis and nerve damage.  They managed to restore the sense of touch in fingers using a minimally invasive electrode brain implant

Previous studies restored some sensation on the hand through brain-computer interface technology.  This new research goes a step further by stimulating harder-to-reach areas in the brain using electrodes that elicit precise feelings in the fingertips.

Will this eventually alleviate the lives of the millions suffering around the world?  Let us know your thoughts by commenting below.
