Sustainable manufacturing laser technology

Researchers at Germany’s Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology are advancing ultrashort-pulse (USP) laser technology for sustainable manufacturing. As part of the EU’s METAMORPHA project, they’re developing high-precision micromachining to reduce waste, energy use, and harmful chemicals.

A 1-kilowatt USP system aims to revolutionize manufacturing by replacing traditional methods with AI-driven digital processes, cutting waste and energy by up to 90%. These innovations set a new standard for eco-friendly manufacturing.
