A study showed how kindness activities positively affected students’ well-being.
In the research, undergraduate students did a self-rating on kindness. Then, they were given kindness assignments and told to do another self-rating afterward. The results showed that they scored higher in kindness and peer connectedness than before. The students also found it easier to engage and benefit from the activities.
While past studies have shown that kindness can benefit one’s well-being, not much has been observed with university students. Apart from showing how small acts of kindness improved student perceptions of themselves, their peers, and their campus, it also helped students realize more about kindness. For example, they learned that kindness is a skill they can do better and that there are many ways to be kind.
