Engineers from Purdue University developed a cable that can fully recharge an average electric car in under five minutes.
The cable uses an innovative cooling method, which removes excessive heat generated during charging. This allows for a much higher current to be used. The higher the current, the less time is needed to fully charge the car battery.
This development brings the charging time for electric vehicles to the same level as fueling time for petrol or diesel cars, thus removing one of the biggest obstacles to faster adoption of electric vehicles.
