After successful tests, Candela Technology is gearing up for mass production of the world’s first electric hydrofoil ferryboat, the Candela P-12.
With a top speed of 30 knots and a range of up to 50 nautical miles, the P-12 is a groundbreaking electric passenger vessel that boasts practical endurance for coastal transport needs. Utilizing computer-guided hydrofoils, the P-12 achieves remarkable energy efficiency, consuming 80% less energy than traditional high-speed vessels at speeds over 18 knots.
The vessel is expected to significantly reduce operational costs, with up to a 90% reduction in ‘fuel’ costs compared to diesel vessels. The innovative design addresses the challenges of limited range and slow speeds in traditional electric vessels, making the Candela P-12 a promising solution for efficient and sustainable maritime transportation.
