Aevum: solar race car for the world solar challenge

The University of Michigan reveals its solar race car for next year’s World Solar Challenge.

The students designed the vehicle called Aevum, to accommodate the demands of the World Solar Challenge.  These include using more environmentally friendly solar cells and fitting a 6’4″ tall dummy driver instead of petite drivers.

The solar race car also uses a suite of sensors to optimize driving and get the most distance possible out of the available power.  Finally, the vehicle can be remotely monitored for its battery performance, energy consumption, and other data with its telemetry system.

Despite being designed remotely and the students not having any face-to-face interaction, the team was able to pull off their smartest solar race car ever constructed.

Do you think the vehicle could have been improved with face-to-face interaction?   Please share your thoughts in the comments section below.
