The world’s first zetta-class supercomputer

Japan is planning to develop the world’s first zetta-class supercomputer, Fugaku Next, which will be 1,000 times faster than current systems. Capable of reaching speeds at the zettaFLOPS level, a sextillion floating-point operations per second, this new machine is expected to come online by 2030.

With government funding of 110 billion yen or $780 million, Fugaku Next will handle complex tasks, including artificial intelligence calculations. Its immense processing power will allow for faster, more detailed simulations in fields like AI, black hole modeling, and Earth’s future climate projections.
