A new study on pregnant mice reveals that a fiber-rich diet significantly enhances the long-term heart health of their offspring, lowering their risk of cardiovascular disease.

Scientists found that dietary fiber from foods like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains benefits the mother and shapes the developing child’s heart. Experiments showed that baby mice from high-fiber diet mothers had hearts less susceptible to inflammatory damage and were healthier overall compared to those from low-fiber diet mothers. Additionally, high-fiber diets improve gut health and short-chain fatty acid levels, crucial for fetal heart development.

The study underscores the significant impact of a mother’s prenatal diet and suggests potential lifelong cardiovascular benefits for children.
