A study of over 11,000 women in Australia highlights the importance of physical activity in midlife for better physical health in later years.
Consistently meeting exercise guidelines of 150 minutes per week during midlife resulted in better physical health scores compared to those who did not. Even starting regular exercise in midlife showed benefits, with physical test scores similar to those who exercised regularly earlier.
However, starting exercise in the 60s didn’t yield the same benefits. The findings emphasize the importance of lifestyle changes like exercise in midlife for maintaining good physical health later on.
