Revolutionary blood test detects cancer early

Researchers at Rockefeller University have developed a groundbreaking blood test that can detect a key protein, ORF1p, produced by cancer cells

Detecting ORF1p, even in minuscule amounts, can indicate the presence of cancer in its early stages before it’s visible under a microscope or detectable by standard lab tests. To achieve this high sensitivity, the researchers utilised Single Molecule Arrays (Simoa) technology. In initial tests, they successfully detected ORF1p in patients with advanced breast and colorectal cancers, showing its potential as an early diagnostic tool for lethal cancers.

This breakthrough blood test could be a game-changer for early cancer detection, as it can identify cancer before symptoms develop
