Vertical urban oasis in Singapore

CapitaSpring Tower, located in Singapore’s business district, is now home to a publicly accessible urban forest. The tower features a “Green Oasis” floor with gardens and small replicas of tropical forests that existed in Singapore before it became a city-state.

The rooftop has three market gardens that supply fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers to three on-site restaurants. Trees grow in nooks in the building’s facade, creating a vertical exploration of tropical urbanism.

In total, the 51-story building houses over 80,000 trees and plants across 90,000 square feet of landscaped area. The tower reflects Singapore’s “garden city” vision.

Despite being an extremely dense city, plants are legally required in building regulations. CapitaSpring Tower is like a vision of a future where city and countryside, culture and nature can coexist, and it serves as an example of sustainable urban architecture.
