Space bubble shield to cool the earth

MIT researchers propose using a space bubble shield that will help cool the Earth.

The shield is designed to reflect sunlight away from the Earth to cool our planet and prevent the worst effects of climate change.   The team is currently experimenting with space bubbles made out of silicon.  Once the design is finalized, the bubbles will be manufactured in space to address logistics problems, considering it will be roughly the size of Brazil.

What’s great about this method is that it won’t involve injecting particles into our atmosphere, unlike the widely studied solar engineering technique, with an impact still unknown.  It is also fully reversible, meaning we can pop the bubbles if we find they harm our planet.

Will this solar shield be our life raft as we race with time to fight the effects of global warming?  Please share your thoughts with us.
